Item description 1-10 10 This is the rarest of rare sabertooths due to location in Oregon at a site long closed . It was found in 1975 and at lowest part of formation which means approx. 38MYA which means it’s the first sabertooth cat . Im putting this on for your viewing pleasure as it is the best dinictis I ever saw and the earliest . With only a small part of root of a saber restored and small part of a zygo its 98% original . Now it is not hunted as a National Monument
It was so great it was left in volcanic ash in between the eyes and back of lowers. The lowers are perfect with almost all parts exposed. I really can’t say enough about this cat so here is link that explains the formation https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Day_Fossil_Beds_National_Monument and https://traveloregon.com/things-to-do/destinations/parks-forests-wildlife-areas/john-day-fossil-beds-national-monument/
Here it is with some black teeth and brown typical of area
