They were a favorite target of saber-tooth cats like Smilodon  On a few islands were found 4000 years ago dwarf wooly mammoth fossils that dated 4000 but most died out due to hunting from man 10,000 years ago

Item rating and description: (1-10) *10* The colors show at least Pleistocene Tusk Tip of  a Wooly Mammoth 23″  This is natural instead of polishing like almost all  other tusks .It is Ivory that due to brown- blue color is just amazing  to find one like this . Tusks of this rare extinct huge creature desired as the ivory shows so well .  It is extremely rare with no restore or repair . I bought it because it’s 100% original .  This is for a collector who wants a  tusk that has dark  colors throughout which shows age . This could be up to 100,000 years old  as you know most are lighter beige color. It was found many  years ago by the person who sold it to me so it reduces overhead so offering at super price. I never saw one from here with this good of a tip . While not large , it has a pristine tip  with most not real tips just ground down  . These went extinct 10,000 years ago except for Wrangle island(smaller forms) where no men existed who  killed these gentle giants.   This is a juvenile  specimen as tusks not near as heavy but its rare to find one like this  -mostly adults .   This is the  the most important part of any mammoth – the tusk.  The price is so low it will go quickly because of the ivory of an early mammoth. This is true ivory at a  low price.  This is a wholesale price due to original owner finding this piece years ago so save . No one can get this long and most of a juvenile for this price  The first two pictures with more brown appears that way to me but depending on lighting it can look real blue like last 2 pics.
