Economical Nicely Shaped Highback & Huge 30 Million Year Old Land Tortoise - Stylemys

Species: Stylemys

Species description: Word means Pillar mouse but is a Dry Land Tortoise. At one time it was common in the West but went extinct 23 MYA. The ancient tortoises had primitive jaw muscles and forelimbs were unsuitable for digging like modern ones. Many species existed.

Geological strata: White River Formation

Geological period: Oligocene Period 35 - Early Miocene 23 MYA

Item location: Shannon County, South Dakota

Item rating and description: 11 GIANT 24" Long 24" wide Around the Curve Highly Original Oligocene  Stylemys Land Tortoise with Beautiful Light Dark Colors.  The key item here it is that for an turtle animal this size almost the entire animal is original bone with a small amount of restoration but mostly crack fills. A very good turtle this size that has 85% is a super find, and even the under shell is present inits entirety. I have seen quality turtles 85% this size go for $4,000 but this can be yours for a fraction of that price. While not a museum piece due to some rough edges and a few missing shell pieces that has matrix in place, it turned out very well  and gives a person who wants a monster piece for little to nothing. Most of turtles you buy are 80% real turtle and the rest filler painted well. There is no paint at all. I'm also discounting. It has a high arch, which is normal and distinguishes this from the other one I have. This is an unbelieveable price.
